I met with Franco Gazzani whilst in Marche last week. It was great to hear about the history of the brand (started in 2004), but previously shoes were made to order by his grandfather.
Franco was an impeccable host, giving me a tour of the factory (Franco’s house), meeting all the staff and learning about the whole process of shoe making, their aim for the brand and their sales philosophy.
All Bontoni shoes are hand coloured and currently they are still only producing 12 pairs a day.
After 2 hours of talking, I tried on various pairs, and have ordered 2 pairs to be made. It takes 3 months for the shoes to be ready, so roll on March.
